Three steps from your couch to ours.

VRChat is free, a headset is optional, and the instance to look for is labeled “Group Public”. Here is the way in.

New to VR? Take it one step at a time. The first step is optional.

  1. Get a headset (optional)

    Purchase a VR headset: This includes Meta’s Quest 3S/3 or PC VR. (You can join us in desktop, iOS, or Android mode if you are unable to acquire a VR headset!)

    Download VRChat for free from the Meta or Steam store.

  1. Sunday: Sunday Service

    Our main service, in the church world. Current Sunday series: 1 Thessalonians.

  2. Every other Thursday: Bible Reading

    Every other Thursday. Hosted by Nathan K: a group reading through 1 Corinthians, with time to ask questions about the Bible and what we read. All are welcome!

    Hosted by Pastor Mike. Connect with others, engage in uplifting worship, or enjoy some friendly competition.

Meta Church VR is a non-denominational Church of believers and non-believers alike, existing exclusively in Virtual Reality!

You may notice that our church looks different from a traditional church—and that’s intentional.

Why a church in VR What we believe

  • Avatars of every kind

    Virtual reality allows people to express themselves in personal and creative ways through customizable avatars. Users can appear as any character or style they choose, helping remove many of the social barriers and anxieties often associated with public appearance.

  • A welcome at the door

    Greeters have the responsibility to welcome people before services and get them acquainted with our church, as well as to answer any questions that may arise about our community and services.

  • Someone to pray with

    Prayer warriors have the responsibility to check in with people before and after services and ask if they are in need of prayer.

  • The Bible, verse by verse

    We focus on teaching the Bible verse by verse, sharing the Gospel, making disciples, and helping people develop a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Room for every background

    We welcome people from all backgrounds, whether they are lifelong Christians, new believers, skeptics, or simply exploring faith.

  • A note on avatars

    We also understand that VRChat itself isn’t always a godly place. Coming as you are does not mean we endorse ungodly avatars, and if you do see an avatar that makes you uncomfortable, VRChat allows you to hide an individual’s avatar or block them entirely.

Is it free?

VRChat is free. Download it for free from the Meta or Steam store, or get it from the iOS App Store or Google Play.

On giving, our words are these: “We only ask that you give out of the desire of your heart. Do not give out of reluctance.” More about giving.

Do I need a headset?

No, a headset is optional. You can join us in desktop, iOS, or Android mode if you are unable to acquire a VR headset!

If you do want one, this includes Meta’s Quest 3S/3 or PC VR. See the ways in without a headset.

When do I join?

Near service start time. The Sunday Service is at 3:00 pm, Worship & Games is Fridays at 7:00 pm, and the Bible Reading is every other Thursday at 8:00 pm, all US Eastern Time.

The weekly services list shows each one in your own time zone when it differs from Eastern.

Which instance do I join?

Join our world instance labeled “Group Public”. Both the world and the group are called Meta Church.

If you do see an avatar that makes you uncomfortable, VRChat allows you to hide an individual’s avatar or block them entirely.
